The amount of information surfacing about the Common Core is incredible! If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed and wondering what to read first, we think the links on  this page can help.

If you find the perspective on the Common Core presented in our blogs align with your thinking, then we offer you these resources that resonated with us. These pieces, in our opinions, are special in some way. One might offer an invaluable daily digest of CCSS resources, while another may be particularly poetic. This tab is our filing cabinet of favorite resources, documents, articles, and blogs about the Common Core, and we may like them all for completely different reasons. We will always try to provide a brief description along with a bit of insight about each resource that we add.

We see Burkins and Yaris as an interactive forum for sharing and growing important ideas about literacy.  If you know of a resource that we should think about including, please let us know!

  1. Thank you for all of these resources! What a wonderful place to visit…I will share your work along in my work as a writing teacher/consultant.

I am a writing teacher and children’s poet (studied at TC, worked at The Teachers College Reading and Writing Project), and I maintain two blogs that you might find useful:

The Poem Farm – http://www.poemfarm.amylv.com – my ad-free, searchable blog of hundreds of poems, mini lessons, and poetry ideas for the classroom

Sharing Our Notebooks – http://www.sharingournotebooks.amylv.com – my ad-free, searchable blog with many posts by all different notebook-keepers, to show the possibilities for notebooks as idea-containers and more

Right now I am on a brief blog-break as I take a few weeks to work a bit on the new Grade 2 Units book for the new Units of Study by Lucy Calkins and colleagues…

    Thank you again!

    Yours,
    Amy
